I know they say they holistically look at every applicant, but they spend more time on some than others. If there’s a huge red flag it’s going to the trash to save time.
@TerrierNation let’s hope not because there was a mistake with my residency status and I JUST got it switched to in-state today lol
When did you guys get your notification of domicile? The email that tells you to check SIS for in state or out of state status
Lol I mean a huge red flag like straight F’s or a 12 on the ACT, not average grades or residency or something.
This is a stupid question, but as long as my sis profile says “Eligible for In-State Privileges” then that means my residence status is in-state right?
ya
Out of state fam where we at??
@TerrierNation Here unfortunately haha
It’s really an 8% acceptance rate for OOS?!
@redgolden173 I think they were referring to comm school, bc Dean J posted the stats analysis for admittance from years past and its around 25% for OOS arts and sciences
here is a link! if you put it based on school and residency and click transfer on the left side the % should show up http://ias.virginia.edu/university-stats-facts/undergraduate-admissions
@“Dean J” “It’s really an 8% acceptance rate for OOS?!” Would love to know the answer to this too. (In reference to the business school.)
@Vincent1997 i thought u got in UNC
The Mcintire blog has stats from who was admitted thus far. I remember reading somewhere that they only accept 20-25 transfers into Mcintire. Based on that low number 8 percent OOS is probably in the ballpark. It isn’t clear on last years stats if transfers were included in the final number. Applications were up 12%
Hey everyone! I am currently an out-of-state community college freshmen student who will finish with a 3.7. I’m applied for the economics department. I feel like my essay was spot on since I talked about courses in the curriculum, tied it to my interests/activity, as well as how it relates to my career plans which was the prompt for transfers.
Aside from that I’ve competed microeconomics, macroeconomics, stats, and calc 1 (2 more weeks left). Do you all think I might have a strong chance since I’ve gotten the pre reqs for economics out early on? I’ve been wanting to transfer to UVa since day one but I know I have an uphill battle against everyone in state.
Thanks! Good luck to you all
I feel terrible I couldn’t finish with a 4.0 but calc 1 really got me
@bobaboi yes, I did get into UNC, but I prefer UVA a lot more. Praying that I get in here!
@ballinfolyfe I can totally relate. Did you finish spring already? Or did you mean for fall?
@Vincent1997 2 more weeks left, and schools over for me. My CC has 7 week accelerated courses so get to crunch out the pre reqs I need fast thankfully. And congrats on the UNC acceptance! Are you in-state?
UNC is on my list for junior transfer if UVa doesn’t work out as a sophomore transfer. It’s just that I’m competition against stiff competition because of in-state articulation agreements which they need to respect.
@ballinfolyfe I am from CA. Its nice that for you that you’ll be done so early. My classes go till may 26 lol
