My guess is no. Most schools won’t require deposits until May. We actually had a deposit in for UNC which kudos to them we got back. I thought that was a classy move - did not expect it.
Just submitted my app to CAS Econ and have had all supplemental materials already mailed out. Good luck, everyone!
Submitted mine today as well. Good luc
When are y’all planning on submitting mid-term reports? Actual mid-way point of the semester would be too late, but right now I only have a couple assignments/quizzes in each class to base grade off of.
I would send them whenever your school has them. I know some CC’s like mine don’t give a midterm report so you have to get them yourself with the attachment on the common app and get the professors’ signatures. You would then scan it and email them to admissions. I wouldn’t do it later than the first week of April just to be safe (preferably end of March).
I am planing to submit mine before spring break (March 23). What do you guys think? Is that too late?
Call admissions and ask. You don’t want to miss the deadline
I know the rules. There is no deadline and they don’t even require the report. It’s just recommended. I just want to know when other people are planning on submitting the report. I don’t want to send my report two weeks later than everyone else.
Whenever you have your report, just send it.
Has anyone who’s submitted their app as well gotten their portal info?
While everyone else is partying and doing drugs, we are inside perfecting our college applications, despite likely already being at worthy institutions. This is what sets us apart from other students-- we don’t settle for good. We strive for the very best. Transfer applicants are more creative, motivated, and driven than many of those legacy admits at ivies who just sit back and do nothing for four years and then get a degree!
Agreed. Nothing feels better than the satisfaction of working hard and getting the results back. The less you enjoy now and do more work, the greater you’ll enjoy the fruits of your labor in the future. Keep grinding lads. Hopefully our hard work pays off on May 1st 2018.
Well said. @TerrierNation @CTUR782
Anyone get their student portal yet?
Please chance me:
Gender: Male
Current University: Virginia Tech
Applying as: Second-year
Current Major: Mathematics
Applying for: Computer Science
Residence: In-state
HS GPA: 3.5 UW / 3.9 W (massively lopsided upward trend, had a 3.8 UW / 4.6 W through 11th-12th grade with very rigorous courseload IMO)
SAT (new): 1480 (Math: 760, R+W: 720)
College GPA: 3.4… will probably get a 3.6 second semester
ECs:
2 years of work at the Air & Space Museum
Participated in a data analytics competition first semester
Handful of leadership positions in school clubs in HS including Model UN
Intramural basketball
Strengths: Strong upward trend in HS, lots of AP credits(?), brother graduated from UVA (not sure this helps at all really)
Weaknesses: First semester GPA (got a C in a 2000-level CS course that tanked my GPA)
Also I’m wondering if I should even send my mid-semester report. I feel I’m taking a rigorous courseload this semester: Physics II + Lab, General Chemistry + Lab, Multivariable Calculus (Calc III), Differential Equations, and an introductory Engineering course. My second semester GPA will probably be around a 3.5-3.6 depending on how a few tests go, which might be okay but my first semester GPA was painfully underwhelming.
I wrote about some extraneous circumstances regarding stress and why I feel I need to leave my current school for both personal and academic reasons and all that, but I’m not sure I have the numbers.
Good chance
Physics II and Chem in one semester together? Wow, looks like you received a good amount of AP credits. Your GPA is good corresponding to your course load and type of classes. I’ll be taking Physics II and Calc 3 over the summer most likely. I’d say you definitely have a great chance. I’m also applying for second year and am majoring in CS as well in the SEAS. I’m assuming you are applying to SEAS right?
Yup, and thanks! Physics II is pretty tough but Calc 3 I find to be much more difficult than my previous Calculus classes. Does anyone have a read on how much UVA values the completion of the transfer requirements prior to admission?
You mean prerequisites? I am not sure about CS, but for Business they are mandatory. If you don’t complete all of them by Spring, or summer in very rare cases, then you will not be considered.
@hookiewahoo I am also applying to Viginia Tech engineering in CS. Tech has a great engineering program; if not equal than better to UVA’s SEAS. Are your reasons for leaving Tech more personal, than the school/education itself I’m assuming?
@hokiewahoo Is CS in the College of Arts & Sciences? Dean J posted an Instagram question/answer about what the most important part of the transfer application was, and she said having the right courses (aka having the requirements done).
