UVA Fall 2018 Waitlist Transfer Thread

The second wave almost always occurs at least for CAS and SEAS. It’s just that the wave after the second becomes unlikely.

@uvahopeful6014 It seemed there was not a major second wave for 2017 and 2015 according to the transfer blog. I really hope we could get into UVA in the first wave.

And yes, I really hope yesterday was not a major first wave…

@uvahopeful6014 @deliciousSteak I read on the transfer blog that the first big wave is for CAS and SEAS around June 13-17. So there’s still time. Meanwhile I still have no clue about any sort of wave for McIntire…have y’all come across anything on a comm wave?

Yes the second wave isn’t major but it still takes off many. And yes I just explained to you why they couldn’t have been waved. CAS is a massive school and they take off most from that school. I’m sure we would have seen many CAS students come out and say they’ve gotten in.

I hope they will release some offers today. It’s so hard for me to wait another week with anxious feelings.

There was no wave yesterday. So far i’m the only one in the uva fall 2018 transfer group on facebook to comment after being accepted yesterday. It was very much so an individual case response yesterday - from what i’ve gathered, no more than the two of us accepted yesterday heard anything else.

Don’t worry guys. There’s always an update from Dean J, and with how much interaction we’ve had this year (more comments on the blog than any other year) i’m sure they aren’t just gonna ghost release decisions. For McIntire, I know they truly do it one by one but I can’t see how your application could be any better @alarak ; it’s frustrating being on the waitlist but the fact you are waitlisted to both GU and UVA shows you have 100% got what it takes. Did you apply to any other schools like Emory, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, UNC, UMich Ross, UT Austin, Notre Dame, etc. ? You are a perfect fit for all of those schools as well as UVA and GU…

I think next wave there will most likely be “that” wave that always goes out in the second/third week of June. It’s literally been within a week of the first few acceptances every single year.

@msport thanks, friend! and thank you for not abandoning college confidential the moment your worries are eased by an acceptance – and a super huge CONGRATULATIONS to you!!
I did not apply to any other schools because my heart is truly with GU and UVA. I did consider 2 of those, but felt they were too far from home. Also, my advisor was absolutely certain I’d get into McIntire right away. At least I didn’t let his confidence takeover and allow me to not try hard on my application, because, well…here I am, haha.

The transfer blog just updated. Only 40 offers and I’m not part of them…
I’m feeling so bad

@deliciousSteak How do you know you’re part of it? They said if you are you’ll receive an email by tomorrow evening…

So they said they’re only giving 40 spots this year. How many have they given out the past few years?

@younggamechanger In my understanding, if you are offered, you will be able to see you decision in SIS by NOW. email usually sent out after you saw your acceptance in SIS.

I could be wrong, but I’m feeling extremely exhausted now.

No that’s not what the post said. They are still looking to offer 40 spots from the waitlist and they mentioned how it was delayed. The emails to these decisions will go out tomorrow afternoon. It’s just they confirmed that some students did get an offer last night though. You applied to Mcintire I believe so it might me different for you.

It said “We are working to offer to about 40 students from the wait list in Arts and Sciences and the Engineering School. This includes the students who stumbled upon their decisions last night.”

Doesn’t that mean they are offering 40 people off the waitlist from both CAS and Engineering schools?

What has that number been in the past few years? I can’t find it. The post says they offered to fewer this year on the wait list.

I believe the bulk of offers go to CAS since it’s such a massive school. SEAS spots are quite small

@younggamechanger Usually 80-100 offers for CAS and SEAS

@deliciousSteak Damn. They’re cutting it in half this year. Well I finished 2nd semester with a 3.9 GPA and overall finished my freshman year with a 3.75 GPA. I did all I could and tried my hardest which is really at that matters.

Any SEAS applicant here still waiting?

Will admission office only work until 5pm today?

Can someone please clarify.

  1. so if you got off you would see it in your SOS by now?

  2. there’s 40 more spots for CAS?

Please explain

@jhm77777

  1. I am wondering this one too
  2. No, 40 spots for both CAS and SEAS, but usually most spots are in CAS.
