I am right now in the vccs. I am planning on transferring to UVa after this year. I noticed that in their guaranteed admissions agreement, they require a foreign language. I am obviously assuming I cannot be admitted under the guaranteed agreement without taking a foreign language (took in high school, but not yet in college). However, with close to a 4.0 average, I am wondering how likely I would be to still being admitted into their college of arts and sciences. Will I have to take the foreign language? If I do it's no big deal, but I was just curious.

I just transferred into uva through the VCCS not using the guaranteed admission. you should look at UVA's recommended classes for transfers into the college of arts & sciences - its pretty mch the same as the agreement.

I would fully recommend taking foreign language classes at your community college...youll have to go up to the 202 level at UVa anyway...might as well get it out the way at your community college rather than UVa.

Thanks for your response. I will definitely try to do it at my cc. By the way...have you started your classes at UVa yet? If so, how was the transition for you? How is the coursework compared to your cc? Thanks

I was going over the classes I will be taking this fall at my CC, at happened to notice that the language I will be studying (French) only goes through the 201 level at my school...no 202 course listed. Will this mean they will automatically not consider me for guaranteed admission, even though it is not within the means of my control at all whether or not they offer that class??? I'm obviously not considering changing languages, as I am most experienced in French, and I couldn't even get to the 202 level in any other language in the time I have....Please help.

Sorry, just noticed that 202 is listed for the spring, but not the fall (where I was looking). Thanks anyway!
