Is OOS for UVA EA admission much harder than in state?
In general, yes, it’s harder.
In general, out-of-state apps are harder than in-state by design. What state are you coming from, OP? Any particular reason to settle on UVA?
@ProfessorD Applying early to either Yale or Princetoon with a state school from tristate area
If you’re in a position in which you can realistically apply to Princeton and Yale, then getting into UVA will be a relative cakewalk.
Another factor is expense. OOS undergraduate tuition at UVA is currently $40k, quadruple that of in-state tuition. Which state are you a resident of?
UVA is one of two public Us that promises to meet need for all students, including OOS.
It will be harder to be admitted to UVA as an OOS student regardless of when you apply. Let’s just get some real numbers out there.
Offer rates, by residency, go back for many years: http://avillage.web.virginia.edu/iaas/instreports/studat/hist/admission/first_by_residency.htm
It seems like kids need ivy league stats to get into UVA OOS. My OOS daughter really wants to go to UVA. Such a bummer we lived in Cville 7 years ago.
