UVA leads public university in 4-year graduation rate

From Washington Post, 6/3: Virginia leads the 50 public flagship universities in its four-year graduation rate, with 85%, way above average. Top five: Virginia, UNC, Michigan, Cal, Illinois. This looks like the same report as was published three months ago, but it's nice to see on the front page of the Post.

Public universities pushing ‘super-seniors’ to graduate in four years - The Washington Post

Sigh, and yet we’re still ranked behind Cal :/

Wahoowa!

Oops. Meant to say “public universities” in the subject line.

Some private schools topped 90%.

Unfortunately I contributed to UVA’s non-graduating-in-4-years statistic this year because of illness. (Sorry y’all.)

EP - And there were others that took time off for co-ops, to work to make money for tuition, failed a necessary class last semester, ect. It happens. It’s a statistic to strive for as an institution. No administrator or parent would argue the necessity of taking a medical leave of absence and delaying graduation to put your health first.

A more valuable stat is graduation rates for 9 semesters (4.5 years). Sometimes that stat is available. There are some majors at some colleges that are extremely difficult to complete on time.
