UVA Nursing School - Admission Decisions for Fall 2018

I have a daughter who will be applying next year to the UVA School of Nursing, and couldn’t find any thread on this, so I thought I would start one up.

If you applied for Fall 2018, please post the school’s decision and your stats.

Thanks!

deferred
1420 SAT
3.7 U, 3.96 W (on 4.5 scale)
in-state legacy

Deferred
1370 SAT
4.23 GPA

In state - (nova)

Where else have you applied?
-And do you know how many nursing students were deferred?

My understanding is that the UVa nursing program has become extremely competitive for admission. Last time I checked, it had one of the lowest percentages of students admitted among the UVa colleges. The admission rate is also held down because an unusually high percentage of admitted nursing students choose to attend. It also is one of the few BSN nursing programs in the region that admits students directly from high school.

Accepted
4.4 gpa
1220 SAT
In state
HS senior in dual enrollment program with germanna community college
62 College credits
Many academic honors involving high school and gcc
Many extracurriculars/volunteer hours

Deferred
4.33 GPA
31 ACT
regular volunteers @ hospital 2yrs
OOS

We publish admission data in tables with drop downs so you can limit the results by school, residency, etc.

That data shows a 12% admission rate for first year students for nursing. I think that is the lowest percentage of any college at UVa. It was 27% for Arts and Sciences. Of course, the percentage vary between instate and OOS - these are averages for everyone…

For anyone looking for direct entry BSN programs, there are about 40 of them in Pennsylvania. Most of them offer large amounts of merit aid that may bring the cost down to a rate close to UVa in-state…

2017- offer rate for SON at UVA was 16% for IS and 9% for OOS

Anyone have any updates?

Curious to know stats for this year…

But I did look at the link Dean J shows above and it was helpful.

Accepted

I believe I got in because of my essay! It was about my personal connection to suicide prevention
