I am worried because of the way my school does class rank that my rank is too low for most colleges but if anyone could tell me my chances or suggest any other schools to consider that would be great

so what ur saying is, ur school does rank based on unweighted gpa? thats absolutely ridiculous and hopefully u wrote in ur extra information section thats its bs and ur actual rank with that kind of unweighted gpa if they weighted them would be much higher or guidance said so or something. otherwise, uva is insane about rank, even instate at my school, if ur not top 8%, u have a very low chance, so id assume out of state, top 3-5% only. hope it works out for u bc otherwise it seems like uva out of state is a match. i personally dont know how an admissions committee would look at that

basically the ranking system is retarded. U get a 2 point bonus for honors and 4 for ap ...... so if i get a 88 in ap and some one gets a 93 in honors that means they will be ranked higher than me...... and if i have a 93 in honors and someone has a 96 in honors they will higher rank ......... RIDICULOUS???? i think so

jwalsh~ i think UVA will look at the whole picture, but i agree, YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR RANK AND HOW YOUR SCHOOL COMPUTES IT, CRYSTAL CLEAR TO THEM! for the record, my kid got in out of state, and our school doesn't rank at all, tho they do so via deciles. she was 1st decile (top 10%) all aps, awards, etc. they will love your challenging courses!

how bout my chances at these other schoools......
