UVA or Georgetown for IB

Transferring from a state school. Accepted into both UVA and Georgetown as a transfer... opinions on the two schools?

UVA does send individuals to IB, haven’t heard too much of Georgetown as an IB school, but that might partially be because Georgetown undergrad tends to draw public career oriented individuals. Either is good.

UVA hands down. The recruiting for IB and management consulting has been ivy level for the last couple of years. The school actually makes sure that these big banks come to UVA and hire students. The career service at McIntire is nothing less than excellent. Just go to UVA and keep up your GPA, and you’ll be golden.

Both are good for IB but UVA is better, no question.

Just a nitpick: UVA is also a state school. In any case, UVA if you’re in the business school (McIntire).

I was admitted to both MSB (Georgetown) and McIntire (UVA)

UVA and don’t look back

^ You’ve got to be kidding me! Georgetown kills UVA when it comes to IB.

OP, if IB is all that you want, there are few places that are better than Gtown.

^UVA is way better than Georgetown for IB lol…Someone asked this same exact question on wallstreetoasis and an overwhelming majority of the responses was UVA. McIntire>McDonough

Georgetown. Look at the career reports. For whatever reason, Georgetown sends a ridiculous number to Wall St. every year.

I would not cite WSO as an accurate source. Most people on that website are college students who are still trying to find a job themselves.

OP, see the following statistics and then judge for yourself. Each school has its individual strengths.

this…I’m sure there are a few knowledgeable people on there but the majority are just kids making guesses, I’ll stick with M&I.

I’ll be at MSB next year and I’m liking those stats^ for a graduating class of about 350 (not all of whom are finance majors) they’re sending alot of kids to IB.

I went to Gtown, and through my experience both in school and working on the street I would say in general they are both well represented. Gtown sends a ton of people to wall street, almost anyone who wants to do it and has good stats can. If you’re in-state maybe choose UVA over Gtown, but if you’re just going on recruiting I think Gtown has an edge.

Stats dont lie and Georgetown has far better stats.UVA McIntyre is a great school too, just look at PTJ.

So I just noticed something. UVA’s stats are combined for both undergrads and grads. I wonder how many of those placements are grad students.

Still, no placements at Goldman and MS, and just two at JPM even with grad students added in shows UVA just isn’t on par with Gtown when it comes to IB.
