What's your opinion on which is more prestigious?

no idea I'm applying to both

Yeesh. I dunno. More people have heard of UVA because it is a state school but in the job world from DC up to Maine I think that Tufts is more prestigious. It depends where you think you might eventually want to work I think.

I don't think you should worry so much about prestige but rather that the two schools are SOOOO different. Pick the one that is right for you. I am going to Tufts but I would sooner die than go to UVA. Haha.

ahh i know so many republicans there but state schools are cheaper

they're close enough in prestige that it won't make a difference with jobs/grad school admissions; I agree with Uber Laura, pick the one that seems like a better fit for you (location, students, programs, etc.).

I would say UVa. I'm applying to both, but I think Tufts is overrated.

(although maybe overrated = more prestige)

In my opinion UVA may have a slight edge over Tufts with regard to prestige factor. The two schools are very different in many ways but I believe they have very similar prestige. UVA is widely respected in the job market and certainly is more of a household name than Tufts. With that said however, Tufts is slightly less, if not respected exactly the same as UVA in the job market. When playing the rankings game I believe Tufts is drastically underrated and schools like UPenn and Wash U are equally overrated. There is no doubt however that Tufts is a less know school overall to the majority of the population and the low rank of Tufts does hurt its overall image.
