uva or uf... advice?

I'm choosing between the University of Florida and the University of Virginia. At UF I'll be in the honors program, and I will have my tuition covered by Bright Futures, my room and board and then some covered by Prepaid, and another $24,000 for being a national merit finalist. If I go to UVa, I'll get back my Florida Prepaid money, but other than that, I won't get any financial aid.
So what do I do: go to a pretty cool school and get paid to do it, or go to the school I really love and make financial sacrifices?

Depends on how tight money is.

Money isn't tight, but my parents would be shoving out $34,000/year for me alone, and my sister will be in high school ($15,000/year) for two more years, and then they'll have another college tuition to pay. Bsaically, if I go to UVa, I won't be taking (m)any vacations or doing quite as much study abroad or shopping or bringing my car or living in nice dorms, and my parents probably won't pay for my grad school.

The honors program at University of Florida is still very good. It's not UVA, but it's close enough.

Go to Florida...see how you like it. If it's not so great, transfer to UVa.

go where you like the best. if youre parents can pay 15k for high school they should be able to afford uva.

UVA for sure

I lived in Florida and moved to Virginia a year ago...in my opinion, UVA beats UF, but they are both just about the best state schools out there. Either one will work...

uf honors looks pretty good - vs. washington&lee, washu, and duke. also, there is that 3/4 scholarship to umiami. when looking at grad school down the road, and hoping for some nice trips....is any school really worth $35 to $45,000 a year? impossible to believe.

jaxmo: its good to know that someones in the same boat... ive been thinking about it, and im planning to head to gainesville in the fall.

you sure that's not $2,400?

UF seems like a great deal. if you don't feel a lot stronger about UVA, i'd try it.

UF pays National Merit Finalists -- $24,000 is right
