I was accepted to both UVA and USC. I am a computer science major, and both schools have pretty strong programs. USC is a tad bit better. However, the finances here are vastly different. After 4 years at UVA as an in-state student, I will have about $36,000 in loans. I still have a lot of pending local scholarships, so this will probably decrease a few thousand, but right now that's the figure. For USC after grants, I am currently looking at being in $84,000 in loans after four years. I do have work study, so that may be closer to $75,000. Although I plan to apply for scholarships throughout my four years, the difference here is still pretty drastic.

Some other things to consider:
-I'm definitely going to graduate school, so the debt really matters.
-USC is all the way across the nation and I do not know a single soul outside of the east coast. I will have to pay for airfare any time I want to return home.
-I feel like Charlottesville may not be able to provide the "college experience," being in such a small town.
-Although I originally planned on double majoring in CS and mathematics, it seems like too much work unless I want to work every summer. UVA, however, offers a doable double major in computer engineering and computer science that isn't overload and can be done in four years. This seems much more difficult at USC.
-I feel like USC will have way more opportunities and connections being in such a huge city. I really want to intern, do some research, and gain experience.
-I've never really left Virginia and it may be nice to have some other experiences.
-I want to enjoy the other aspects of college outside of academics. I'm not sure which has better ECs and programs. Both seem pretty strong.

To me, it is starting to seem like UVA is the definite choice, mainly due to finances, but I would like some feedback on this. Any input would be appreciated.
