I was accepted at both UVa and W&M. Which would be the better school for psychology studies? Any difference in acceptance rates into med schools? Has more success in placing students into top medical schools?

anyone? bump

I know that W&M's rate for med school acceptance is 75%, which is a very healthy number even if it's not among the highest.

I was actually accepted to both schools. If I were to pick between them for psychology, I'd do UVA (in my case, I would've picked W&M, but oh well).

I don't think there should be that huge of a difference stats wise between the schools to base your decision solely on that. Visit both if you haven't already and see where you fit in better.

UVA is a much cooler school, but there are a lot of spoiled rich kids, from what I hear. My cousin goes to WM and says it's boring. VA has much better liberal arts. It's by far the best public uni in the country (Berkeley is ranked higher on reputation alone. In terms of actual education, and overall success rate, VA kicks Cal's butt...no one falls through the cracks.)

Emory=amazing psych program and the best school ever

However, UVA is also very good, with an amazing teeth opportunity.

What does Emory have to do with anything?

I don't think there's a huge difference between the psych programs at either school. I'd say visit both, they're only two hours apart. Some people prefer W&M. Others prefer UVA. I fall into the latter category.

Id go to UVA for psych.

The difference between UVA and W&M is really fit. They are, for all purposes, the same academically. UVA does have more majors than W&M, but for psych you will obviously find at both. Choose based on which campus / environment you like better.

mboyle, you are able to make such profound statements about schools that you don't go to. In this case, all three of the schools in your post. And I've never seen UVA called "VA" before. And I watch a lot of college sports. And a lot of alumni material comes to my house.

I would go to UVA. I think the social life there seems to be alot more lively there than at W&M. UVA is also ranked better...
