UVA or William and mary?

I just got accepted to WIlliam and Mary but i'm having trouble deciding where to go.
I want to major in Chemistry to pursue a medical career.
I really wanted to go to UVA but when i heard about W/M's benefits it got my decision shaky..

UVA: well known, Medical School, but really big classes and big campus (might overwhelm me but i could just get used to it)

W/M: Small, cozy, smaller classes but dry, boring, not as big on the medical programs as UVA

You've already answered your own question!

UVA it is!

no brainer---UVa

W&M has the best med school acceptance in the state and has for 20 yrs. Friend went to Duke for PhD in Chem and said first yr was review. Good luck.

D is a freshman at W&M, prevet, but astounded at the number of premeds. The two schools are different; perhaps you can visit and get a sense of the two campuses. You would do well at either; I wish you luck also.

UVA is probably the better of the two schools for a premed. Just what I've heard.

ooh. The battle of the Thomas Jefferson schools: the one he attended versus the one he founded. I would go for W&M.

just think about how much you care about sports, social life, etc. if its somewhat high or high then the choice is obvious (UVA)

I'd say size is a big factor

I'm having the exact same issue. I hear William and Mary is more rigorous, and more Ivy-esque. UVA, on the other hand, is higher ranked.

My D, who ultimately didn't attend either school, but is about to graduate with a degree in Physics from a top ranked LAC, was accepted to both W&M and UVA, but was much more impressed with the campus and overall atmosphere of William and Mary. She probably would have chosen W&M (given the fact that they also offered her a substantial academic scholarship) had it not been a mere 25 miles away from home:rolleyes:

If you understand rankings you understand that they are worthless with regards to being helpful in picking out a school that matches who you are as a student and a person. You cant quantify beauty or happiness and you cant quanitfy or rank colleges in any meaningful manner. Its like deciding on which beauty queen to date, the winner or third runner up? Pick the one that matches you the best. Good luck.
