hey im undecided...its between uva and wm..i want to major in bio (premed) and i want to have a good chance of getting into a med school...
which school do you think would be better?

They’re both excellent academically and would prepare you well for med school. UVA is bigger, more diverse, less intimate: more like a city, less like a village. Charlottesville is also a bigger place than Williamsburg. The presence of the hospital and medical/nursing schools at UVA might give you volunteer and internship opportunities, and does attract interesting faculty with split appointments in, e.g., biochemistry and the pharmacy side of the med school.

Thanks for the info!
I am going to visit both of them soon and so hopefully I will be able to decide :)

Tough choice, two elite public schools, both with strong pre-med programs. BOTH schools have great med school placement (although I believe W&M has the edge here). As previously pointed out, UVA has the hospital (which gives you internship possibilities) but W&M has the smaller class sizes. My D is in UVA’s BME program with the goal of going to med school and was able to get an internship at the hospital as a first year. It really is a toss up that comes down to the size/campus/social aspects that you’re looking for. But you can’t go wrong with either of the two. Good luck

UVA has better networking opportunities

The only thing that really matters is that you go to the school that fits you best and at which you are best able to be successful. Do well at either school and you will very likely get in. Have seen many fine med students here at UVA from both UVA and W & M.
