from what i've heard a lot of negative connotation to this school..

sooo any advice?

Go to UVA. If you don’t feel comfortable at a school, don’t go there.

How much in debt are you getting yourself into if you choose to attend UVA?

I used to tell my daughter that we want her to go the school she wants most and we will make the financial part happen. Then as we were researching schools I realized, “What were we thinking?” Does it make sense to pay $50K/year to any school when the basic education is the same at other cheaper schools. So the financial factors started to play a more significant role. School is 4 years, debt lasts for … well that depends on how much you borrowed but it can be years and years. Just when you want to buy a car, house, go on dates, etc you have loans to pay off. Work out the numbers after graduation, sit down and do a sample budget to see what your life would be like.

If you are set on your goals and it is medicine, maybe you should be looking at the quality of the school rather than if you fit in or not. If you are a student at the caliber where you can just pick and choose your med school ok but if not, then fitting in should not be such a factor. After all you are heading towards some stressful hard work years, I think fitting in won’t even be noticed. But that’s just my opinion.
