UVA Question

How much does UVA weight your grades in High School as well as your rank. My class rank is about 16-17% and I have taken 5 AP Classes. My SAT is 1310 with a 660 Writing, and will hopefully be 1350~+ with a 700 Writing when my october results come out. I'm also out of state, and have great EC's, recs, and essays. The problem with my rank is that my Frosh/Soph grades weren't too good, but Junior Year I finished with a 95.6 Average and should finish this semester with over a 100 average (both weighted). Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Everything is looked at against the school profile that your GCs fill out. So they compare your stuff against the amount of APs offered at your school, how they compute GPAs at your school, etc. etc.

Grades and rank are important....class selection also. Upward trend nice.

Oldman, I have seen your posts and you seem quite knowledgable. In truth, I have appled to Wake Foorest ED and am waiting to hear. With the above stats, plus a really great reccomendation from my principal (a Wake alumni, class of 72) what do you think? Thanks.

well... it kinda depends on your school.

most schools will have all the grade stuff, class rank, and such.

the extracurriculars (of the school NOT YOU) and info about your school will be in the school profile which your counselor must send in anyway.

it's your job to send in your extracurriculars. don't assume that they are on your transcript!

cheers

sorry. just ignore above message! :-P
