2 sport Varsity athlete (captain of the swim team, and 2nd singles in Tennis)
plus some more…

White male from NJ though, with no hook.

Essays were really good and recs were probably really good as well.

Whatever though, UVa wasn’t my first choice by a long shot (maybe that’s why they waitlisted all these phenomenal people?) and I probably wouldn’t have went even if I did get in (unless, of course, I get rejected by the rest of my schools next week…).

So congrats to all who got in! And to those who were shocked to see they were waitlisted/rejected, I’m sure (hopefully anyway) that you/me will get in somewhere amazing.

I know that this probably won’t mean much (especially because I’m some person you don’t know speaking via a fake name on the internet), but you really did deserve to get in. Probably over me. You’re a really qualified candidate, and I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere awesome.

Accepted regular decision OOS, New Jersey student. White, no hook. Pretty damn siked.

10/10 essays, good recs.

To note: I defined my application on the fact that I spend most of my leisure time reading novels, so UVA’s essays were pretty much tailored to my strengths.

My consolidations to those being waitlisted/rejected. It’s a real crapshoot, and I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere great.

Oh AND I had a spelling mistake in my essays and they kind of sucked, I wrote them in about 10 minutes. I wrote one of them about A Clockwork Orange too. I honestly am so confused.

So for UVa, did we apply to a major or to a school? If it was to a school, when do we declare our major/ how do we go about doing that?

Because on my myUVa page, under “My Academics”, it lists History, when I applied with a first choice of Politics- Government. Does this mean I wasn’t accepted to the major I wanted to be accepted to?

Reflection:
Strengths:uh my essays were pretty great!
Weaknesses: SAT score was so terrible and so were my SAT II
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I didn’t think I’d be accepted. Still in shock!!
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: University of Maryland, College Park Scholars (accepted), UCLA (rejected)

Everyone on this damn site told me I would get rejected. So HA in your face!!!
There are definitely some deserving candidates in this forum and I’m sorry you did not get in!
Don’t let anyone tell you you’re not good enough. No one has the right to take an opportunity away from you!

Nevermind. Found the answer to my own question.

I logged back into Common App, and opened the UVa questions back up. When clicking on the “Academics” tab, it says the following:

“Please note that all students enter the College of Arts and Sciences and School of Engineering undeclared. If interested in the McIntire School of Commerce, Curry School of Education, or Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, select ;College of Arts and Sciences; as an undergraduate college and then the appropriate academic interest. Academic interests do not affect your chances of being admitted.”

Irrelevant of what you put as your Academic Interest, or what is says on your myUVa page, you can chose your major at a later date.

Sort of expected wait list after early deferral.
Gonna put the deposit in at PSU Schreyer, wake forest or William and Mary and just pray i get off the waitlist.

To everyone else on the waitlist: I suggest we move on. Last year, around ~4,500 students were placed on it but only 185 were accepted. I’m sure everyone got into excellent schools and should be excited for the new journey that we will all partake in shortly.
