UVA Response Question

I'm trying to transfer to UVA and completing the application today. My question is: How many words are you allowed in the essay on the response to question #7? They say no more than a page. I have a full page of roughly 600 words (single spacing). Do you think that's too much?

My 7.B (I've already sent my application) was only 360. You are probably better off as I feel mine might be too short. However, it's well written and I don't think it will hurt me. On the other hand my 1 and 2 are both between 600-650 words. I felt I had a lot to explain though since I'm completely switch majors. I'm just hoping that my long responses to the first two versus my short response to the last one doesn't hurt me. Probably won't.

Oh well. Can't worry about it now.

I'm sure you're fine. Wish I had mine in already, but still tweeking the essay. Nothing like waiting to the last moment. All my transcripts are in, so this is all I have left. My other responses are fairly short, only about a paragraph each. I figure they probably won't want to take the time to read so much on the other responses. Besides, I really didn't have much to say on them, just strictly to the point. I thought about 7b) but went with 7a) instead. Neither one is easy in my opinion.

i just wrote my rough draft last night for 7c and it's 570 words, 2 pages double spaced

you have me wondering now too if they mean 1 page double or single spaced. i'll probably cut back on it a bit.

efs424- If you find out whether or not it's supposed to be double spaced or not, let me know.

Also, are you guys answering #8? I'm undecided right now.

i'm not certain, but i'm thinking they mean one page single spaced. that's approximatly 500 words, which from what i understand is pretty standard

Yeah, I think you're right. I guess as long as it fits on one page, it'll be ok. I'm still wondering whether or not to respond to question #8, though. Did you respond efs424? I'm not sure if it will help, or hurt.

the more information, the better

I applied last year as a transfer, my response was just over 550 words. Also I would recommend everyone send in there supplemental information double-spaced. It will be appreciated. Just my 2 cents, but it got me in.

Thanks wahoo! I think I'll just change the long response (the one pager) to double-spacing and leave the rest at single spacing since they are only a paragraph or 2.
