As of this fall, UVA is supposed to give credit for SL IB courses similar to AP courses. They were supposed to post which classes they were giving credit for somewhere on their website by May 31st but I cannot find this information anywhere. If anyone knows where I can find this information or who I need to email to get it that would be great. Thanks.

Here is the link:

[International College-level Exam Credit — Undergraduate, College of Arts & Sciences, U.Va.](http://artsandsciences.virginia.edu/college/admissions/international_exams.html)

Scroll down for the IB credits.

It says: “We award no credit or exemptions for standard-level examinations”. So I don’t know where you heard that but they don’t seem to give any credit for SL IB courses.

It says they don’t give any SL credit on that site because it hasn’t been updated. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find the information for SL. The state just passed a law saying that all Virginia state colleges needed to accept SL IB credit.

Are you sure?

Similar credit is given for AP and SL courses: None

The thread to which Hazel linked should help. :)

Ib sent out a letter to its graduates which stated the following: “The Mid-Atlantic Association of IB World Schools would like to remind you that last year the Virginia legislature passed Code of Virginia § 23-9.2:3.8 (better known as SB 209 in the 2010 General Assembly) which requires public colleges and universities in Virginia to fulfill certain obligations regarding credit policies for International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement courses.” One of these policies was to “Make policies for granting credit for standard and higher level IB courses comparable to those for AP courses.”

Can you clarify how similar credit can mean “no credit” when uva gives credit for the spanish ap exam, calc ab exam, ap bio exam, etc, while uva does not give credit for the respective ib standard level exams (sl spanish, sl mathetmatics, sl bio)? Do you know who I can talk to further to get credit for my achievement on these exams? Thanks.

Dean J explained this well.
Your quote does not have exams anywhere, just courses.
UVA does not grant credit for AP or IB COURSES, just certain exams.
