Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any information on the UVA summer sessions (Summer Session, U.Va.). I'm currently a junior at Fordham Preparatory School in NY, and am very interested in joining one of these summer sessions for 4 weeks. However, I have a few questions that I need help with.
1) Does the grade I recieve in the course show up when I apply to UVA?
2) One of the reasons I am very interested in attending one of these courses is so on my App I can show that I am capable of achieving high grades at UVA, if i recieve a A during the summer course. I also believe that by spending a week at the college I will really get a feel of what UVA is like.
Will recieving an "A" in one of the 4 weeks courses have an impact in the administrations decisions when they review my App?
3) Can someone give me the actual application for the program. I was looking around the on site and could not find where I do the applying.
Thank you (especially Dean J if you found your way into this thread)

yes, you will send your transcript from them to them (silly)

my brother tried this and it didn’t help… sorry to report. but that was for duke.

[Application Forms, Admissions, Summer Session, U.Va.](http://www.virginia.edu/summer/admission/application/index.html) available in january

what do you mean it didnt work for your brother at duke? he went to the uva program then applied to duke?

he went to duke’s summer program, got A+'s, and didn’t get into duke.

uva is not as hard as duke, also what were your brothers gpa unweighted and his sat score?

it was impeccable. they said he was “too well rounded.” it was very strange. he’s happily getting his A+'s at Michigan now.

thats insane… two well rounded… i wish i could get that I’m expecting their response to be “ha ha ha, are you serious?” and I’m applying oos with a 3.8gpa taking only honors and AP classes. Hopping to just hit the 2000 mark on the SAT which I know is still low. Just thought this was a way to beef up my app so my chances rise just a little bit.
Thanks so so much for the help, also if you think I have good chances tell me

hazelorb, who is “they”. Does too well rounded mean he tried his hand in everything?

Our high school guidance counselor called Duke, and their admission committee told him that. He was on sports teams (was captain of one) and also did FBLA (won awards), Quiz Bowl, got stellar grades and scores (800 Chem SAT II, 5 on AP Chem – guess his major), etc. Apparently they wanted someone who was exceptional at one thing and put everything they had into that, so that the “class” would end up “well rounded” that way. But that doesn’t excuse any poor grades, of course. It’s absolutely ridiculous and contradictory. What can I say. I think going to a public research university is better for Chemistry anyways, and he’s in a fraternity so he’s having a good time.

I realize you go to a prep school in NY, but there are plenty of good schools in your backyard that you may be able to take summer courses at and still achieve the same effect (that being you are capable of performing to college standards). It might possibly save you some money, or at the very least, living expenses for the duration of the course.

But wouldnt it look better if I achieved the grade at the college that I’m applying to. I mean I think it would help my chances of getting into UVA oos
