UVa to UPenn, UChicago, or other Ivy League??

hey guys I'm a rising sophomore at UVa and I'm thinking about doing investment banking or consulting after college. I'm going to apply to the McIntire School of Commerce at UVa next year and I'm pretty sure that there shouldn't be any problem about getting. I just want to know if it will be worthy to apply transfer to UPenn, UChicago, or other Ivy League universities.

I have a college GPA of 3.6. My SAT is at mid-1900s partly because English is not my first language. I have 104 out of 120 in TOEFL though.

what do you guys think? Does it worth to transfer into these schools?

Do you have a reason to transfer?

nope, you dont have much of a shot

UChicago is not Ivy league first of all (though it is an excellent school). Secondly, McIntire is a very well respected program and I would recommend just doing that if you get in unless you are truly unhappy at UVa for some reason. None of the schools you mentioned are easy to transfer to, so you probably will not get into any of them depending on how strong the rest of your application is. McIntire is your best bet in my opinion.

Thank you very much for all the comments! I greatly appreciate them.

Bourne: The only reason I can think of is that these schools have at least one part better than UVa. For instance, Wharton is the best undergraduate b-school in the US, and UChicago has a very renowned economics dept. I love UVa and since I'm a Virginian I enjoy in state tuition.

rupert: Thanks for the evaluation! I understand how small my chance is but does it worth for a try?

hermanns: I know that UChicago is not a part of Ivy League. I mentioned it because I intend to double major in economics and commerce. I am really interested in economics (and probably quite good at it too; Last semester I got A+ on macroeconomics in a class of over 1000+ students.) UChicago has a superb econ department so that is the reason I want to transfer to there particularly.

One consideration I want to add to my question is that although McIntire is a good program it is not really a feeder to ibanking or consulting over all. I heard that from Ivy League it is substantially easier to get into these fields.

Any more input is very appreciated!!

I think staying at Mcintire and being tops in your class would be better for you than goingn to Uchicago.

As for transferring to the Ivies? You need a reason. Something infinitely more valid than prestige.

I agree with the others. Its always worth a try, but you should probably brace yourself from rejection from all the big guns

And yes McIntire is good enough to have you stop worrying about the others

Any Ivy (short of the elite ones) is going to be only marginally better than UVA. So, it makes absolutely no sense to transfer if you are happy at McIntyre.
