Transferring from Northern Virginia Community College as a 3rd year student in fall of 2013.

3.71 gpa; 75 credits completed in 4 semesters.
Member of Phi Theta Kappa and National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Work full time. 2.4 HS gpa (the transition from 2.4 to 3.71 is not evaluated as an average of the two but a comparison (which is a good thing for me right?)).
1610 SAT (which is ignored for 3rd year transfers).

I Am NOT applying with the Guaranteed admissions because creative writing is not a literature humanity, it is a language humanity.

Chances for Transfer into English major at the school of School of Arts and Sciences?

Your community college gpa and course load seem solid for transfer. If you look at the transfer FAQ page ([Transfer Students Frequently Asked Questions | Office of Undergraduate Admission](http://www.admission.virginia.edu/transfer/faq)) you’ll see the average gpa for admitted transfer students is 3.5. However, they’ll be looking at how long it’s been since your high school grades, plus we all know there’s more that goes into their decision than just these stats.

If you don’t get in for this fall:

It sounds as if you’re just one class away from fulfilling the GAA. If that’s the case, then you’re in a pretty good position. You could just finish the GAA and go in Fall 2014. I know that sounds like a long time, but that year will go by quicker than you think. You could use that time to work full time and save money to have while you’re away at school, read, learn without the pressure of grades, etc.

You could also finish that class this summer and apply to A&S for spring 2014. I don’t think the GAA applies to spring transfer (you may want to call and ask), but if you have it completed before then that might help in competitive admission.

I thank you for your response SolarPowered. In fact the plan you offer if I am not to be offered admission for the Fall of 2013 is one I have considered many times over. Hopefully it works out in my favor the first time. We’ll see. Thank you again.

You’re welcome. Best of luck.
