UVA Transfer housing situation

In past years it looked like UVA offered all transfers on campus housing. This year they have no more spots available so everyone is on a waitlist now. I am making this thread incase any current UVA students need someone to take on their lease for on campus housing or if any one needs a roommate.

My son received his email notice today that he is waitlisted. This is a stressful and frustrating situation for the student and parent. He is number 60 on the waitlist. What are the chances that he will be placed based on the number of cancellations in past years? At this point, we have 2.5 weeks to find some kind of reasonable housing to view during the orientation visit or he will not be able to attend this fall. It was our understanding from the university that second year transfers were 100% placed in the past.

Yeah I am in the same situation. I am an incoming transfer student and I got waitlisted. Kinda sucks. I didn’t think there was a shortage. I’m also wary of off grounds housing because I have no experience of it and don’t want to commit to something I dont know much about.

It is very unfortunate because I believe past years transfer students were guaranteed housing. The university tries to sell the “transfer community” on campus but doesn’t tell us our chances of getting on campus housing. I think we are all in the same boat in panicking to sort out our living situation. It looks like I will have to look at off grounds housing.

Yes. My son is a 3rd year transfer into McIntire and just found out today he is on a long waiting list and we were told previously he should have no problem getting on grounds. Needless to say we are not happy and are networking and trying to find solutions!

How did you find out you were number 60?

Thanks so much for starting this thread…

If you email the housing assignments email then they will tell you the spot you are around. I wish everyone luck in this upcoming month.
