have any of you been able to get on the site for transfer housing?

My finals were a ***** to study for but ended up being easy as hell. Don't you just hate when you spend so much time oversudying and then they ask you the simplest stuff.

So what's up with the meet? We can always meet up at Starbucks and then do whatever. If anybody wants my pic I'll trade. alex@neboola.com

I am in CA right now, went to Stanford today and am really kicking myself in the ass for not applying there... but I'm also really happy about UVA. Can't wait to find out where I'll live.

So I got a question car or no car?

Also did anybody get contacted by McIntire deans? How about transfer evaluation?

Stanford has a nice campus. But, they only accept about 7% of their transfers, and they don't have a business program, (and the cost is way higher than UVa especially if your in-state).

Anyone here know if we can still apply for Echols program as junior transfers? i know that first years (not accepted from hs) can apply at the end of their first year, with GPA as the main criterion

i called the office today, they said that they were sending out echols decisions this week--all 10 of them (aprox)

i was on the web site and it looks like there is an app for echols once you have spent a semester at uva

I was accepted to transfer to UVa, but I think I'm getting two C's this semester...and I'm scared they're going to rescind their offer of admission. Does anyone know the likelihood of that happening?

JMUgrl, I honestly do not know. The letter of acceptance, as you already know, only states that we are to finish out the semester with "distinguishable grades." My only suggestion is to avoid anything lower than a B- if you can. What two classes are you most concerned about?

--

Are there any transfers who were accepted into the School of Engineering concerned about the APMA (Applied Mathematics) courses that are required? I have taken seven different math courses at my current institution and, by studying the transfer table on the UVa website, see that I will get credit for corresponding UVa MATH courses and not APMA courses... Do I have to take all of the math courses over again just because the Engineering school wants APMA and not MATH?

US history and psychology, I was totally screwed over by my history professor, but thats a whole different story. Anyways, I'm freaking out.

Don't worry, I'm freaking out too.

Why? What are your grades, did they drop?

JMUgrl - Was the acceptance conditional, based on those classes? If not, I wouldn't worry too much. If so, I'd let those profs know asap. What will your GPA fall to?

No, my admission was not conditional. So you think I'm okay?
First semester I had a GPA of 3.06 and this semester I have a feeling it will probably drop to about a 2.8. It's not like I was working any less, I just had this terrible professor.
Anyways, any feedback will be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

Ladies and gents...I am proud to announce that I am officially done with Virginia Tech...:):):):D;)

congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"First semester I had a GPA of 3.06 and this semester I have a feeling it will probably drop to about a 2.8. It's not like I was working any less, I just had this terrible professor."

I don't understand admissions at all. How did you get in to UVa with a 3.06 GPA anyway? Not to be ugly or anything, but I have a friend that didn't get in with a 3.8 and she's in-state. Also, I was waitlisted at JMU, but was accepted to UVa with a 3.65. I'm just surprised to hear of your acceptance with that low of a GPA. It's not bad, it's just really low for UVa. What else did you have on your app that looked good? Outstanding EC's, sports???

Congrats nahrafsfa! Can't wait til I'm finished here, but I haven't even started my exams yet. :(

Sports, I guess.

Bam. At home and goodbye W&M.

JMU girl you're fine...

I was kinda wonderin how that was too! lol...considerin I was told I'd be competetive and definately not a surefire acceptance with a 4.0

Yeah, I figured it must have been the sports. Although, sports aren't big at JMU, so maybe she was awesome in HS. Or, maybe her Dad is a huge donator to the University, lol. j/k, JMUgirl. Doesn't really matter now that you're in. I would aim for high grades on your finals, though. 2 C's and a low GPA may make them look twice.

as long as you don't get anything under a C you're fine....your previous college's GPA doesn't matter when you transfer...you start off with a 0.0...well actually they try and be optimistic and tell you you have a 4.0 that you're welcome to maintain...or ruin :p.....grad schools will look at each of your seperate colleges' GPAs seperately....and UVa accepts credit for a C or better...just DON'T drop below a C- or it could jeopordize your credit evaluations and degree requirements
