please give me some suggestions and recommendations. I really want to go to Wellesley college.

Your ECs lack focus and it’s a freaking laundry list, bro (sis?). I really don’t think you wanna squeeze that all onto your Common App and your UC Berkeley you only have 5 spots. Your grades are good, especially for a Chinese student, but your SATs are average for a Chinese student, which makes me suspicious of your grades. Hmm… Anyways, they’re sub par for most of your schools and because you’re an international, you’ll have a tough time making it into the ivies and other top 20 schools unless you write very, VERY kick-ass essays.

“outstanding student in military training” - hahaha, if I hadn’t attended an all-Chinese school here I would’ve been like “whoa, far out” but dude… you’ve gotta stop listing these trivial awards and only focus on the things that truly have a place for you.

Wellesley College (ED) - not familiar
UC-Berekley - you spelled this wrong btw. reach. Berkeley’s horrible with OOS students.
UCLA - reach
University of Virginia - reach
Cornell University - high reach
University of Texas-Austin - match
Tufts - high match
Chicago - high reach
Scripps - not familiar
Emory - reach
Cornell - …-___-
Brown - reach/high reach

If you want your chance thread to work, chance people and have them chance you back. Bump your thread every once in a while and you should have 10 replies in no time. Um… I’d recommend you to do more research on a certain school depending on your prospective major, geographical and environmental preferrences. On a totally different subject, where in China are you?

Okay. Reach means the college is going to be hard to get into for you. For example, a 3.9 GPA/2300 SAT/awesome essay and EC student would consider say, Duke, a reach because it’s hard for him/her to get into, but would consider Harvard, Princeton and Yale high reaches because they are VERY hard for him/her to get into. Basically, when someone says a school is a high reach, they’re saying that you have a very small chance of admission. I would like to change a few of my assessments, though.

For UC Berkeley and UCLA, you are a match because I was led to believe that Berkeley’s very rigorous when dealing with intl. students, when really intl. acceptance rates are about the same as CA acceptance rates. And actually, since you’re not looking for financial aid, I’d say Cornell and Brown are just reaches. The 2020 SAT score is low for them, but I’ve known a few Chinese students who have gotten into JHU with around 2000 SATs, so you might have a shot.

I’m only familar with a couple schools, so I’ll chance you for those:
UVA (OOS): reach, your SAT score is low, especially your CR score, which is important for internationals.
Emory: reach
Uchicago: reach
Tufts: high match

Wellesley-- Depends on how good your essay is. If you wrote a great essay, then I think you have a fairly good chance of being accepted.
Tufts-- In
UC Berekely-- High reach. Not sure I’d want to be attending college in California if I were you anyway, what with all of the economic issues that I’m sure are affecting funding of the state universities.

And I agree with the first poster that you should edit the ECs. And Wellesley is an interesting outlier among all the other universities, good luck getting in.

Hey I’m not too familiar with how colleges treat international students but brown and Cornell seem like reaches, and definitely try to concentrate on a specific theme for your whole application, that could be the make or break point
Good luck!

Wellesley College—ED High match

You need to find some safety schools because you have a very ambitious list here. Have you ever thought about UCI or UCSB? I think you have great chances there.
