please give me honest opinions! i know my GPA is low :( i had mono really bad during junior year and missed alot of school/had difficulty catching up...my counselor's going to mention that in her letter of rec, hopefully theyll take it into consideration... ahhhhhh

you're probably borderline like everyone else haha (assuming you're out of state). we just got our uva ed decisions so you might want to check the uva board...it has our stats + our decision.

im in-state actually! in northern va though, which is kind of treated differently from the rest of the state, so its tough. where on the uva page are those posted? hope you got in by the way..

King James what are you talking about? First of all, he's in state. Secondly, it is wayyy easier to get into UVA from in state so your comment is backwards. I have never heard that N. Virginia is treated differently from the rest of the state. Why/how's that?

yeah king james, i think in-state is definitely more of an advantage than a disadvantage. what i meant about northern va is just that its much more competitive and high-strung than like..the southern part or other parts of the state. it's basically really high class suburbs of DC and the whole education system is different- different grading scale, i duno its just much different from the rest of va, which is more rural. i was reading an article the other day about how the admissions board doesnt want it to become "the university of northern va", so they're less likely to accept someone from nova over someone from another part of the state, even if the second person's doesnt seem as qualified. okay im done rambling! haha

Based on the results from the ED round, I would not hold my breath - except to swim across the pool. Looks like they want a 3.8 or higher. Only exception seems to be TJ. If you go to TJ, I think you get admission to UVA along with your admission to TJ in the 8th grade. :-)

i think you have pretty good shot then. the stats are under the "official ed decisions" thread. i actually got deferred, but i'm keeping my hopes up.

haha boo tj :( my counselor said like 130 people have alreayd been accepted from there...and i thought my school was high with 14. oh well. any others?

The GPA is low, but your SAT is good and your EC's are very good. I would say you have a shot, but I wouldn't bet on getting in. The NoVa posts do add some weight to your not getting in (I have to smile, being from Southwest Virginia).

And I think KingJames probably meant the opposite of what he said and just misspoke. So yeah, a decent shot.
