So I've gotten into both schools at this point but am absurdly torn. I would be attending as an out of state student, so no in-state benefits for University of Virginia. Also, no surprise, Georgetown awarded me no money (neither did UVa). So I guess what I'm asking is, if I have no idea what I want to do (but certainly want to keep as many options open as possible), would I be better off attending UVa or Georgetown (Georgetown for 10K more a year). Looking at the whole picture, like Greek life, class sizes, professor quality, prestige, location, etc. Any feedback would be just fantastic because I'm losing sleep, fast...

what’s your intended major? plus, the things you list (social life, atmosphere, class size, location) could be good things for some people and bad for you, or vice versa! what are you looking for?

Yeah, I think for this one it all comes down to your intended major (and how firm you are in that) and what kind of surroundings you want.

Virginia. Gtown is not worth 40K more than VA. In fact if the money was even I would still have a hard time deciding

So overall, if I would be comfortable either place socially and atmospherically, Georgetown would not be worth 40K more academically?

(given I have no idea or focus as to what I want to major in)

Uva is the clear choice, simply because it has a better social atmosphere and of course the two schools are on par with academics. And there’s no way I’d pay that much for G-town.

Prestige is very similar. Lots of overlap in type of students. More campus based social life at UVa with sports more important. Probably more school spirit at UVa. Jesuit/Catholic influence at Georgetown an issue either way for you? Very different locales. What feels like the place you’d rather be for four years - Charlottesville or DC?

If you really can’t answer, think about saving the 10k yearly and head to Va.
