UVA vs. GT vs UGA (Possible Honors?) for Mathematics Major

So, I finally heard back from my schools! Firstly, I would like to say WOW for being waitlisted at UVA. I know its not the best thing to hear, but as an OOS, ~1350 SAT, and 3 Cs on my transcripts since freshman year, I was AMAZED to get not rejected. It was #1 choice school and I thought I was going to get rejected so much, that I didn’t even bother looking until hours after the decision was released. I was rejected outright by GT, but was offered a transfer pathway as long as I keep a 3.3 GPA and met some other requirements. Lastly, I was admitted to UGA. I didn’t do the honors program application, but I do intend on applying for it as a student once I arrive in the fall. I was wondering as a math major who may either want to go into pure math and do research or go into the actuary field, which school would be best? I am most likely going to UGA for my freshman year unless UVA removes me from the waitlist, but that is highly unlikely. I would absolutely be willing to transfer out to UVA or GT after completing some time at UGA. I plan on attending grad school after college, if I am able to grasp the topics well enough to do research seriously. I would love any opinions on the matter. I love UGAs student body and culture, but wish it had a better mathematics program. I love GTs academics in general, but I feel like its quite cut throat and academics are the prevailing thing on campus. Does UVA provide a good balance between the two? If I were rejected after the waitlist, should I try applying as a transfer if I can maintain a high GPA at UGA?

I would not hold your breath for the UVA waitlist as they only took 8 off the list last year. I guess you are a GA resident? If you have guaranteed transfer to GT I would not pass that up for OOS in a STEM related major even if UVA may be ranked a little better for a math degree. UVA is nearly $70k per year for OOS

We are from VA and my son chose to go OOS to GT over UVA for engineering. The rumor of GT being cut throat is not true, or at least he has not seen it.
