I was wondering whether I should goto UVA or NYU for computer science.
I was accepted in SEAS and Tandon, but am having a hard time to decide where to go…
I really want to go to a school with a strong CS program. I can’t tell which school has the better CS program, as many different ranking sites display different things. I know that recently both schools have tried to expand in the CS department.
Another perk I like about Tandon is that I can like minor at Sterns if I wanted to (I think), but not sure if I can do cross minors in UVA (so far I can’t find something that says I can).
Any thoughts or advice would help thanks!
I imagine you may do better where you’re happier. Have you visited both campuses? They’re very different. Where do you want to live after graduation? These are all things, I think, you ought to consider.
NYU '88, '91
Were your accepted to SEAS or the College at UVA? If SEAS, the Engineering Business minor might be an option:

I’m not sure if there is more up to date information available, but Dean J has definitely mentioned the business minor as an option and I know many of my D’s peers took advantage of it.

I’m not really sure what you meant by “Were your accepted to SEAS or the College at UVA?”, but probably the college at UVA. My decision said engineering undergraduate at UVA, and I did apply to the school of engineering so.
As mentioned above, as long as they’re about equal in price, go visit both and decide. UVA and NYU are SO differentt in terms of location, student body, etc…first question is do you want to be in a city or in kind of a college town atmosphere? Do you care about going to football games on the weekends/an active sports scene? Secondly NYU is much more of a hipster scene whereas UVA is more Southern and preppy. Those are just some of the most surface level differences. After visiting both I think it’d be pretty obvious which you’d prefer.
My apologies for overlooking where you mentioned SEAS. I’d also factor in financial aid if that is a consideration.
