I am OOS for both of them, and would go to UVA with the intention of ending up in McIntire. On the other hand, I am already guaranteed to be in Ross because I got in through preferred admission. I am definitely set on being in the b school at both of these options. Any thoughts?

Both schools are relatively equal in ranking and prestige. I would choose which school you fit at best as the environments for each are very different. Having the guaranteed spot in Ross is a godsend here, and really makes your freshman year very stress free. At UVA you would have to work for 2 years before applying to McIntire. On top of that, keep in mind where the recruiting comes from. UVA recruiting will go to the mid-atlantic/south (so DC, Baltimore, Atlanta, Raleigh, etc. and some to NYC). UM recruiting goes to the midwest and northeast (So Chicago, NYC, Boston, Detroit, Ohio, etc.) You should have opportunities to end up anywhere for both schools, but those locations are just something to keep in mind.

Good luck!

Ross, easy choice.

The pre-admission makes this a no brainer. I was in the same position as you. It made my freshmen year way less stressful knowing I didn’t have to try nearly as hard as all the students applying to Ross. Additionally, Ross is a 3 year factor, meaning the curriculum is spread out more as opposed to McIntire which is simply a 2 year program. The way I see it is, if you want an additional opportunity to get an internship (which to be quite honest, I don’t really care about but a lot do), Ross gives you that extra year to go through a recruiting cycle and pick up an internship. Quite a few of my classmates are doing internships with Deloite, UBS, Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, etc. as sophomores which is cool.

Lastly, charlottesville is beautiful, absolutely mind-blowingly beautiful, but it’s in the middle of nowhere. Ann Arbor is 45 minutes away from Detroit, an airport, Canada and the city itself has 150,000 residents (or maybe it’s 100,000 - I don’t know).

Cost is the same, quality of education is the same, overall reputation of the schools is the same, both have great campuses located in great college towns, but Ross is a safer bet. I would recommend Ross.
