UVA vs. SBU/GWU combined Medical Program

Hi yall,

I have heard great stories about UVA UG experience and all and the good pre-med (also competitive) program they got going over there. I deliberating between choosing UVA or St. bonaventure/George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences.

the Combined program offers exemption from the MCAT, funded research opportunities, internships, study abroad opportunities during UG (even tho SBU isn't highly ranked in comparison to UVA)....and basically yourre pretty much guaranteed to get into Medical School since the only condition is maintaining a 3.6 (if I remember correctly) during your UG (which at SBU is not that hard to do according to some of the ppl i k there).

My heart is set on the med field and I like the study abroad options and no MCAT. However, I feel UVA has the better UG experience and the better ranking overall so I was in a bit of a scruff on which to choose. I'm sure a lot of my schoolmates would be shocked if i were to turn down UVA. SBU is more in the middle of nowhere and its cold up there in NY, but I think it's really for the best--less stress, no MCAT, guaranteed sppot in GW medical campus (is this campus any good?), and basically you can engage in a lot more leadership and volunteering positions given the stress relief and the opportunities entailed in such a combined program.

Now, I may be speaking too soon, as I havn't even had my interview done yet, so any advice on that?...its like a group interview, student interview, doctor interview, etc. etc.

Thanks all, keep it clean, love and kisses. uu alll rockkk

How did your interview go with SBU/GWU??
