UVA vs UMD vs UNC vs W&M

Currently I'm deciding between these four schools. I really want to double major in political science and psychology. What schools on my list offer the best programs in these departments?

I would say that it is probably between UVA and UNC. Based on USNWR, UNC’s grad school ranks higher for both fields, but really, at the undergraduate level, it seems that departmental ranking does not matter that much, and UVA is ranked higher overall.
I would look and UNC and UVA and decide based on feeling.

^ yeah, that pretty much sums it up. UVA and UNC have very different “feels”; see which one appeals to you more.

also take into account that UNC’s tuition is 10k cheaper per year than UVA’s

Is the surfwakesnow in-state at any of these?

I hope it’s Montgomery county, VA.

Go to whatever is in-state between UVA, UNC, or W&M. Its a tuition/ “fit” issue more than anything. They are approximately the same level, all better than UMD.

No, I’m instate at Maryland. I visited UVA last week and I’m visiting UNC on Thursday. I loved UVA and my parents said that they could afford the $45,000 tuition. I guess it will come down to fit and right now I’m leaning toward UVA.

I know UNC is a lot cheaper than the rest of them…

Well its cheaper than UVA/W&M. UMD is in state

One of these things is not like the other. W&M is a LAC that is 1/3 size of the student body of the other schools. Focus is on undergrad education more than the other schools. Does not have “state school syndrome”. Sounds & feels like an Ivy. Other schools are bigger and louder, esp for sports and Greeks. Great choice to have as long as you are true to yourself.
