UVA vs. UMICH

Hi guys, given that the tuition is the same, which one will be a better choice for business/econ?

Now I know that UVA is slightly better (academically speaking) and its rank is slightly higher in the US ranking.

However, in most global rankings, Umich tends to be higher. Does that mean that if you want to pursue working outside US, it is better off to study in Umich?

Comments please, thanks

Go to UVa bro montana.

Global rankings? I honestly am very skeptical of those, as it’s hard to use a methodology that applies globally.

I’d say it depends on what you want to do for college.

comparing these two schools based off of academic reputation and rankings is pretty useless because they are pretty much identical. I would suggest that you research the locations of the schools (ann arbor vs charlottesville) and where you think you would be a better fit. Are there specific programs that interest you that are only offered at one of the schools? I think it comes down to things like weather and college environment and whether or not you will be happier at uva or umich. Hope this helps, but remember both schools will offer you great academics and excellent preparation for your career of choice.

Personally, I prefer the warmer weather in UVA. However, I have heard that ppl in UVA tend to be more conversative while ppl in Mich tend to be more liberal.

I am probably going to work elsewhere after college, so I am quite concerned about the fact that internationally UVA does not get the recognition it has in US . McIntire is really something that I look into, but it is not guaranteed in UVA and I am afraid that I might not get accepted.

For science, social sciences or engineering UM>>>UVA. For liberal arts or business a draw. For weather UVa>> UM
