Hey...i got accepted oos at both uva and unc but at unc i got a full tuition institutional grant. i got accepted into northeastern honors and am receiving over 34,000 a year and i got accepted into the eckardt scholars program at lehigh.

uva and unc were my favorites but northeastern's coop sounds incredible and lehigh's program for international relations (my intended major) sounds great. Northeastern is obviously in great city and Lehigh is closer to major cities than UNC and UVa are which would probably make internships easier.

UVa and UNC are both more reputable schools and i absolutley loved the enviornment.

Advice on where to go???

Of course, since you are in the UVA section, people will say UVA! =] But to be honest, the opportunities given to you from all four schools are wonderful. What I personally would do is narrow your list of four down one at a time, as you keep thinking about it. Thinking about it all at once is rather harsh and unfair, so go one step at a time, you have a month.

One piece of advice I was given from my guidance counselor is to make a pro/con list and look at it. Just look at it, and see which pros are very key to the school, and those that can be found at any college. Look for the specialties of each college, and analyze which one you think caters most to you.

I can’t personally tell you to choose one over another, I simply have no idea how good the colleges and internships at certain areas are. Sorry =P

Hope I helped though!

As someone who has been to UVA as an undergrad and currently attends Lehigh as a grad. student, I would argue that UVA has a much better comparative politics/international relations department. IR is an area that Lehigh is making strides in, but UVA’s program is better established and as a whole and will likely offer you better opportunities to network.

What I have also found, while attending Lehigh, is that course availability can often times be limited and while they may advertise certain courses, the small size of the school often means that they do not actually offer them as frequently as at a larger school.

If it is really between UVA and UNC, I would still choose UVA…unless UVA was going to be prohibitively expensive, 34k a year is hard to turn down if you are looking at 50-60k+ debt!!

thank you both so much, i really appreciate the advice! i’m definitely making a pro con list and the experience from both lehigh and uva was great!

Hard to top a free ride to UNC…

Northeastern has become more selective in admissions, but I wouldn’t put it on the same level as the other three universities, which I consider about equal overall.
