UVA VS. VANDERBILT?

Admitted to both and very happy to have to make such a tough decision. Looking to potentially go into business, but could also veer towards political science. Which do you think has a better academic reputation, and which is a generally better place to be at? I’m out of state so no in-state tuition, and money is no issue either way. Thanks!!!

Congrats! Both are strong academically. I think Vandy is the better choice. Smaller classes. More geographic diversity. Nashville is a cool and up and coming city. All the events at UVa this past year make me wonder about some systemic issues at UVa/Charlottesville.

UVa has got the better business program, which I think is more respected, better structured and more appealing to top employers than Vanderbilt’s.

The differences in quality/prestige/reputation are completely negligible… these two are on the same level… what about money??? What will be the cost of attendance (after scholarships/grant, but before loans… how much debt will you take on for each school)?

OP said money is not an issue.

^Don’t be naive… Money is ALWAYS an issue.

No, it isn’t for everybody. One, many people have the resources to pay full cost. Two, the OP is out of state for UVA so difference is probably not too large between the schools.

UVa-McIntire is very prestigious and has a strong appeal to the top employers. Vanderbilt is good, too, but McIntire is just much better. Go to McIntire and never look back. It’s the better choice between the two.
