UVA Vs. Virginia Tech...

Hi, I am interested in majoring in computer engineering or chemical engineering in college. I am having some trouble deciding between applying to UVA or Virginia Tech though. Does anyone have any personal feedback on the two campuses, and which you think is better? Also, here is my Safety school list:

Safety Schools
University of Alabama
Rochester Institute of Technology
Northeastern University
Syracuse University
University of Rochester

I was also thinking of adding Boston University, Worcester Institute of Technology, and UConn. Do you think these three should replace any on the above list, or should I just add them and keep the above 5 as well? Thanks :D.

They’re both good schools, and very good value for money if you’re instate. Why not apply to both?

On the UVA forum, there are some posts from shoebox10, who transferred from VA Tech Engineering to the UVA Engineering School, comparing the two.

Thanks, didn’t even know that there was a forum. And because I don’t want to have an excessive list, lol. I already have like 8 other schools plus the ones on this list.

Virginia Tech. It’s probably a safer bet and Virginia has an engineering school for a reason.

Lol, I was hearing that UVA was better that’s why I asked here. Thanks.

UVa’s E school is spotty–very good in some areas and not good in others according to their own evaluations. Chem E is not one of the good areas–computer eng is good.

I would not consider U Rochester as a safety. It is significantly more selective than the other schools you list as safeties.

Thanks for the tip :D.

Does anyone have any suggestions on replacing anything on my Safety list with any of the suggestions I posted below it?

Remember, a safety school has to affordable (you need to know that all costs will be covered)…

Which of these schools do you KNOW will be affordable?

Boston University, Worcester Institute of Technology, and UConn.

What is your home state?

Yeah you’re right, I remember you telling me earlier. And I reside in NYC.

Oh yes…I forgot…NY :)

Hah, so do you think I should replace any? Or keep it the way it is?
