UVA vs VT

Ok, so I know versions of this thread already exist, but I think my areas of comparison are different that those which have been mentioned before. I have a few questions that will play a key role in my decision, which I will list below.

  1. Is Blacksburg a traditional style campus like Charlottesville, and if not, how does it compare?
  2. I know UVA is known for having better liberal arts programs, and VT for it's technical schools, but are VT's non-STEM majors still somewhat well-regarded? Are they at least headed in the right direction?
  3. Specifically, what's the reputation of Virginia Tech's journalism program, specifically its Advertising concentration, and what is the reputation of UVA's undergrad gov program?
  4. This isn't really a school specific question, but I've heard majoring in government makes it hard to find a job, is this true? Does the degree translate well to other professions, and does it involve a healthy amount of writing?

Thanks for any and all help, and sorry if my post was unclear, it was a little rushed!

Bump (sorry)
