I've had my heart set on William & Mary for the past few months and I was planning on applying early decision and everything. Until now, I was thinking of majoring in Political Science/Government and then moving on to Law school, ignoring my parents' request for me to take the pre-med track. Now, however, I've rethought my decisions and Medical school in the future seems like a possibility for me. I know that William & Mary is better known for Law and International Relations rather than Medicine, but my question is, would going to William & Mary for undergrad lessen my chances of getting into a good Medical school? I know that going to UVA would look a lot better, and it's also a higher-ranked university. I also know that I probably shouldn't consider the status of the university when making my decision and should do whatever makes me happy. Would it be bad if I went to William & Mary took the pre-med track or should I consider a different school?

No, no, no. Both are fine.

Apply to both in any case. Even though statistically the two colleges are very similar in admissions, they often end up accepting different students. Many great students are accepted by one but not the other.

No UVirginia does not “look Better” and rankings are not based in reality. W&M has the highest med school acceptance rate in the state. Majoring in Bio or Chem at W&M will easily prepare you for med school. W&M is one of the most respected schools in the country.
