UVa???? What are my chances?

To the OP:

Answering this question is kind of difficult because I don’t know exactly what the admissions officers at UVA are thinking when they choose to accept, waitlist, or deny an applicant. I will say this much: from your stats listed (GPA and scores), you will face some competition. I noticed that you didn’t mention a class rank. If your rank is high, that can make up for a lower GPA as it shows how you stack up against your classmates.

Yet, at the same time, I know that others applied with lower stats than yours. This is where your essays, recommendations, extracurricular activities, geographic location, etc. come into play. I think that a lot of people, particularly those on this board, tend “overemphasize” GPA and test scores. While “stats” are definitely important in admissions, they are not necessarily the “end all, be all.” Many subjective factors enter the equation in creating a well-rounded class.

So, there’s still some hope.
