UVic advice needed!

Hey,
I am an international student currently following IB in India. I recently received my acceptance from UVic for engineering and I look forward to attend this university as an undergraduate (1st year) this year. I have been researching about the university and have across nothing but good comments. I still have a set of questions stopping me from committing to this institution.

  1. How is the social life in UVic? I know about the social life in American universities but still have no solid idea about how it is in Canada. Can someone please tell me what the social life is like in UVic?
  2. What are the job placements after you graduate from UVic and do they guarantee a Co-op option for every student?
  3. Is the academic pressure too high for you to invest your time in doing other activities?
  4. Is it easy to transfer from UVic to another college in Canada or outside Canada?
  5. Someone I know wants to apply for the Jan term as the deadline for Fall 2016 passed on the 28th of February. Is there any problem applying for this session? (I have read that the classes, housing etc that you get aren't the ones you wanted.)
  6. What should I be aware of before I start attending UVic? (One aspect of this university that you might want to change)

From what I know (I don’t know too much, just what I heard from teachers), UVic is a smaller university.
That makes it so the community is a little more compacted and closer, than in comparison to larger universities like UBC or McGill.

I’ve also heard good things regarding research at UVic.

Most people I know would rather go to a university like UBC, McGill, or University of Toronto instead of a university like UVic, but that’s more of a preference and about prestige.
Academic wise, I do not think that there is much difference in comparison to other universities. The student body is probably the biggest difference in this case.

I’m sorry if I didn’t answer all your questions. This is just some information I know regarding UVic.
