I have pretty much the same stats as you, maybe a bit lower- 31 act, 2060 sat, 93 gpa, and an EXTREMELY bonerriffic common app essay (I would know, it gave me one myself ;))- and I got into the Honors college. From what I’ve seen, most people in Honors college have much higher stats than us, so if your essay is truly bonerriffic, you should probably get in :D

Just checked sons school’s naviance site. So far, 49 kids have applied to UVM (it’s showing 16 accepted, but I don’t know if the kids have to “self report” stats or the school does it automatically.) We are a larger NJ public school, and so far apps to UVM exceed all state schools other than Rutgers (almost twice the apps as Penn state, Maryland and Delaware, all of which are big “go to” schools in the past. Do you all have Naviance? and if so, are you all seeing lots of the class of 2011 as applied to Vermont?

did you find out with your acceptance letter or after?

@imanicollegehelp - we use Naviance but it’s a self report thing. So far our high school (Rochester, NY) had 17 of 255 students apply. Only one has reported being admitted.

Decision: Decision Deferred means deferred because mine says that and I didn’t apply early action so theres no way I can be deferred plus I only submitted by app less than a month ago so thats way too soon for me to be notified considering they sent an email saying how backed up they were with apps.

or am i totally wrong?

Got into the Honors College! Stats on the first page.

Hey guys congrats on all of you that got in too. I have a 93 average 31 act, taken 3 aps (with 4s on all the tests I was so happy) and have done a bunch of extra curriculars with leadership positions. I got into the honors college and really love UVM, but as of now I can’t afford it. Does anyone know the type of financial aide they will give out to an honors student?

Oh and im also applying Tulane (accepted with a scholarship which is a big factor in considering schools now), Cornell (deferred), BU (I noticed a bunch of us were applying here too), and SUNY ESF (A New York State school)

Didn’t get into the honors college, it seems! Sigh! Well, if I end up going to UVM (and it’s lookin good!) I’ll apply for it as a sophomore! :)

Don’t give up hope for the honors college - see this post from a couple years ago
