UVM network cables

Anyone got a 2nd yr student next year at UVM who has any factual info about whether a network cable was useful last year? If so, was/is 15ft long enough? Was at store and eyeing the CAT5 cables but also saw a CAT6 cable, anyone think CAT6 is worth the extra couple of bucks?

According to my daughter, she never used her cable except to register for classes when she was vying for space with many others.

From the UVM ResLife site:
Wi-fi (wireless) in all student rooms and common areas
Residents can connect to the UVM network using either wireless or “wired” Ethernet connections
No routers, hubs, sniffers, or wireless access points are allowed due to network security
Each student room has two Ethernet jacks (hubs available to provide a third Ethernet jack in triple rooms)
Bring your own Ethernet cable – 25-foot cable is best for gaming systems and optimal speed when streaming

25 ft … OK, thank you.

Mine complained that streaming video could be better so I brought up an adapter and cable last wknd.
