What are my chances at these schools?
(Left 3 safety, middle three target, top 3 reach)

I go to school in a very competitive northern jersey HS.

Gpa: 3.52, there's an explanation. I struggled my first year and got a 2.7, and every since, I've raised it to all A's in honors classes (this year alone was a 4.3).
Senior year, I'm taking:
AP biology
AP calculus AB
AP french 5
Honors English 12
Honors Stock Market and econ
Band (highest level)
Required gym

As for my test scores,
I took thr Sat twice, but my first was better than my second at:
Math: 750
Reading: 540
Writing: 690
Total:1980

Then, I took the ACTs this past june and got:
Reading 33
English 35
Math 36
Science 36
Composite 35
Essay 9
Needless to say, I'm submitting act scores.

Sat2:
French 650
Math 770
Math 2 800
Physics 710

As for my ECs:
4 years band program (2 middle level, 2 high level) (I was the highest earner for volunteering) (hopefully soloist this year)
4 years jazz band (2 low level, 2 high level) (no middle level, soloist)
4 years marching band (section leader last year, soloist)
4 years brass ensemble (soloist)
3 years swimming ( two JV, one varsity)
National french honors society 1 year
Creator of badmitton club (senior year)
20+ hours of community service @ library and local animal shelter
More in senior year, maybe some stuff I forgot.

After reading this, you are probably thinking: "ugh. His gpa is terrible, no." Like I said, I struggled and have been improving, which I know is a quality colleges want to see. Second, my intellect is shown by scores, which will further prove to colleges that freshman year was nothing more than a hiccup. In addition, I am very motivated, my teachers know that, and I know I will receive stellar recommendations.

Please tell what you think, whether I am wrong or right or somewhere in between, and if my colleges are spread evenly. If you need to ask me more informatiom, I am open.

By the way, edit my major is biochemistry

Also, I play the trombone (10 years), euphonium (6 years), and piano (1 year) but I play the piano 2-3 hours a day for fun, so I’ve gotten significantly better than most people with only a year

Forgot to mention: varsity physics team junior year, top 5

Can you afford an UC? If so, Berkeley should be doable (a 3.9 GPA for sophomore + junior year).

UVT: Safety
UDel: Safety
UMD: Safety
Rutgers SAS/SEBS: Safety
Syracuse: Safety
RPI: Low match
UMI: High match
Colgate: High match

But what exactly is URod?

Maybe taffy meant to say U of R.

U Rochester: Low match/Match
U Richmond: Match

you guys think that all of these schools are safeties or targets (that’s what match means, right?)? if so, what would a reach be?

Whatever reaches that could be reachable in your situation are, well, reaches for just about anyone. Stanford IMO is worth applying since it doesn’t take freshman year into account.

So I guess I’m in a better situation than I thought. UC Berkeley and other UC schools also don’t require freshman year grades, right?

I asked earlier whether you could afford an UC because the UCs do not require freshman year grades.

whoops. my bad.
