UW Acceptance & SAT/ACT GPA

I’m a Junior and have a feeling that I won’t get accepted but gonna try. I’d really like to know who did and didn’t get accepted to UW and what your SAT/ACT, GPA, and extra curriculars are.

Rejected: UW GPA: 3.56 W: 3.6 SAT: 1080. Very good EC’s. Lot’s of community work, good essays. This year I feel like UW focused way more on the SAT/ACT. I’ve seen alot of people with 3.1 GPA’s who were accepted but they have very high test scores. If you score above a 1300 I think UW will be a match for you.

For general reference, Washington’s Common Data Set reports the unweighted GPA of enrolled freshmen in 2016 as follows:

3.75 to 4.00: 65.40%
3.50 to 3.74: 25.96%
3.25 to 3.49: 6.20%
3.00 to 3.24: 1.89%
Under 3.00: 0.55%

Average unweighted HS GPA for enrolled freshmen in 2015 and 2016 was 3.78.

Middle 50% ACT of enrolled freshmen in 2016 was 26-32.

I am not aware that UW publishes stats of admitted students in addition to stats of enrolled students. However, as a function of yield, average stats of enrolled students are slightly lower than average stats of accepted students (e.g., UCLA admitted ACT: 29-34; enrolled ACT: 26-33).

I got into UW with an SAT of 1270/1600 an ACT score of 28, a 4.0 GPA. However I know people with lower grades/scores that got in and also kids with higher scores that did not get in…

My daughter got in with a 3.4 (IB Diploma) and a 33 ACT.

I was accepted into foster as freshman direct also OUT OF STATE:
GPA: 3.91 at the beginning of my senior year (pretty sure it went down to around a 3.72 at the end lmao)
ACT: 29
Not a ton of extracurriculars, I was captain of my school’s badminton team and volunteered for about 2 hours a week, and I also had a job at a small retail business by my house!

definitely expect different results if you’re from out of state. I’m from california and had no idea how competitive it was coming from another state. I met someone who applied the year before from New York and got rejected, so he moved to seattle and waited a year to apply, and got accepted the next year with the exact same stats!

Accepted with:
GPA: 3.75
Received an Associates of Science from CC (3.85)
ACT: 30 (superscore 31)
Only EC was one year or journalism club and volunteering sparsely at church.
I’d say focus on the standardized test, I feel like they are your ticket for admission to even consider you, but that’s just me.
