UW Autumn 2018 Transfer Discussion (University of Washington)

GPA: 4.0
AA-DTA, transferring in w/ 90 credits
CC: Cascadia college
Major: Business

I feel like my essay isn’t that strong… Do you guys think it affects my chances of getting in?

@RichL0828 Did you apply to Foster School as well or did you apply for Pre business?

For those of you that applied and got into UWT, did you find out that you got in from the unofficial transcript first or after the notification page changed? Also, did you get an email saying the status of your application changed?

@julietjuju3 I found out that I got in via the transcript trick, first  My transcript loaded on the 16th of February, and then on the 19th I received an email and my application status changed.

@julietjuju3 Same goes for me. I submitted my application on Mar. 16, and saw that my unofficial transcript loaded on April 9, then received a “congrats!” email today.

@RichL0828 When you originally submitted your app, did you list your prospective courses? For example, I am finishing my foreign language requirement, so when I submitted my app, I noted that I would be taking Spanish in Spring quarter 2018.

Wow. UWT seems to be much quicker than UWS

UWT probably has less applicants, and has an guaranteed admission process for all WA residents with a AA-DTA and greater than a 2.75 GPA - so that probably cuts down on the applications they have to review.

I think the reason why decisions come out in June/July because they need to see our spring quarter grades or that’s my situation, I’m taking 3 more core classes for my Business DTA. I think for UWB and UWS you can only have 2 core classes in progress before they can make a decision. Which is why for after spring quarter which is mid June they can start making decisions. I’m pretty nervous and i’m not sure if this applies to anyone but if it does, push through this spring quarter!

@mtvy224 That could be a possibility but some of us get done early. I finished my Associates during winter quarter. It ended in the middle of March and I just sent in my updated transcripts. So I’m still hoping they start early like last year, in late April because I’m 100% ready!

I’m not so sure that it relates to spring quarter grades… I’ve heard that they usually don’t request an updated transcript.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the class size of the existing soon-to-be juniors. Like, maybe they need to see how many sophomores register for their junior year before they can accept more.

@linnearrr Do you think that might apply to soon-to-be sophomores as well? Like only a specific number of spaces?

According to the 2017-2018 common data set, 6,716 full-time students enrolled (for freshman)

@linnearrr NO, I totally forgot to list all my prospective courses. I feel like its a good sign to be asked addition information tho. I read the Fall 2017 transfer thread the other day, and people that got asked additional information heard back their admission decisions in late April. The waiting is killing me…

@transfer3018 yeah! I applied to foster school as well.

@transfer3018 I’m not sure - I guess it could, since there are going to be people transferring in as sophomores.

.

Hey guys!

I’m joining this thread against my better judgement… I know this will only increase my anxiety but I submitted my application early January and being left in the dark is killing me. I’m happy I found this thread to get updates on other applicants notification status. Here are my stats in case anyone is wondering:

Good luck everyone!

@UWtransfer2018 I see you’re apart of PHT. I got into the honor roll for my second time, but am still so confused as to how I become an actual member. I know you can take honors classes but I want to become a member of PHT. Do you know how I do that?

Have any of the UW-Tacoma applicants received their financial aid packages yet?
