UW Autumn 2018 Transfer Discussion (University of Washington)

It seems random too - like, not based on dept or major… These next few weeks are going to be brutal.

If you guys recently sent an email for change of major, they’re not updating it on the admissions portal anymore but they will change it on their end.

For anyone who was accepted into UWT and paid the enrollment deposit, did your transferable courses/credits load in you unofficial transcript? If they did, does your current College Level GPA reflect differently from what is shown on your CC unofficial transcript?

@transfer3018 How do you know? Did you recently talk to them?

@julietjuju3 Yeah. I sent them an email and called them. I sent an email to change my major from Business to pre-Business on March 29 but this didn’t get changed on the admissions portal.

I emailed them about it and they said that on their end I was marked as Pre-major. And even if they don’t update the admissions portal, they changed it in their system.

@linnearrr Yeah, my transferable credits loaded in my unofficial transcript. It is pretty much exactly how I anticipated it would look, regarding my GPA.

For some reason, it is including my grade from my Math 098 class (I got a 3.1 in the class), and that is lowering my GPA :frowning: I hope UW Seattle isn’t including that course in my transfer GPA - I was under the impression that they don’t include any courses below 100 level when considering your GPA.

Math 98 shows up on my transcript as well, I think because completion of the course is required for admission… I’m not sure though, you’re right that its a bit odd that it is showing up when it isn’t a college level course.

My transcript is also showing 11 credits that transferred, without attaching a GPA to it – It still ends up being right around where I would have expected it to be, now I’m kind of second guessing it… It does look a bit off and I’m not 100% sure.

I like to think about receiving college decision letters like watching a scary movie… You know something is about to happen but you just don’t know when. That’s EXACTLY what it’s like for us!! We know our decisions are coming, but we just don’t when… For all I know, I could be studying in my favorite coffee shop, check my email, and scream because I got accepted.

I’ve officially withdrawn my application from consideration for UW-S and am 100% committed to UW-T now.
Good luck to the Seattle huskies  & If anyone here ends up at Tacoma, I can’t wait to meet you guys.

I just checked my application online (as I do everyday just incase) and they changed my major from ACMS to Statistics… did they change anyone else?

Mine is still the same…

My major was also changed from Economics/Geography to Economics only.

For those of you who had their major change, did you guys select a second choice major when you originally applied?

@linnearrr No. I selected only my first choice major when I originally applied. I emailed the admission office to add the second major later.
I’m not sure if choosing a second choice affect my chance of acceptance…

On the application I think it gave you an option to pick a second choice. I am applying for the LSJ major, and for some reason I was not given the option to choose a second choice. If admitted, Ill be admitted with a “pre-major” status.

I don’t think it hurts your chances at all, especially if the admissions people think that your more prepared for the second choice major.

Yeah I asked to change my major to ACMS from Stats and I guess they changed it back… does this mean they’re looking at our apps now?

I would assume that they are reviewing applications now, considering that’s the only way to see what your majors are. I think changing the major thing might have to do with the timeframe thing, since some majors get their decision letters at different times than everyone else. I really have no info to back this up, but just using what else I know about the admission’s process to make this guess. Maybe they check majors, put all the applications with those majors into different piles, then go through major by major??

Judging from last year’s thread, it seems like they send acceptance notifications at random.

Hopefully at least one of us gets good news this week!

For anyone who applied to the Biochemistry program in Seattle, my friend just got her acceptence letter to the department but it is contingent on her acceptence to UW. She is an instate community college transfer with about a 3.5-3.6 gpa
