myUW has not updated yet… hoping it will by tomorrow. but thank you everyone! i have seriously worked my whole life to get to this point
How do you know you got in if your portal didn’t update? @golddawgs
What’s your stats and major?
@golddawgs Congratulations!!
@UWtransfer2018 because of my circumstances, i had to call to explain the urgency that i be notified soon. i just found out today by email, so my portal has not updated. my stats are not that grade. gpa of a 3.37 and never took the sats/acts. ill tell you this… ive had to deal with circumstances most people dont ever have to deal with in their entire lives.
also, majoring in psychology.
@golddawgs I’m super happy for you that you made it in! Such an amazing accomplishment!
@golddawgs Congrats! Can I ask what you did to prepare to enter your major? Did you get the language requirement out of the way before you applied?
@metanoia95 so, basically all i did was make sure i knew what uw’s minimums were as well as my majors and tried to take as many classes at my cc that would transfer. for my language, i’ll have to take one more once i start. i was a few credits short of some things, but that’s because uw required more in certain areas than my cc would allow (i.e. uw= 15 credits in elective, cc= 10 credits in electives). i also made sure to meet with my advisor every quarter to ensure i was on the right path.
@julietjuju3 thank you so so so much!!! i really genuinely all of you hear back soon… it is the most amazing feeling to feel that all your hard work has paid off. and if you don’t get in, then that means uw wasn’t right for you and there is another door opening that is meant for you. don’t get discouraged!! you’ll all be okay
@golddawgs By advisor, do you mean the one at your community college or a uw advisor? Also, did you have any extracurriculars? I didn’t have any and I think that may have affected my application. This is the last of the questions, I swear!
@metanoia95 I have the same question about extracurriculars. I haven’t done anything in college. But I heard somewhere that UW cares a lot about grades and not the other stuff. It’s just a rumor though.
Work with BOTH advisors. It will definitely boost your chance with UW if they see you’re actively trying to do what you can to get in. And yes, I’ve had extracurriculars. I was VP of a club upon application and stated that I will be president of the club after the application is submitted. I think I also talked about how I volunteered at my church and youth group. I also talked about my job. Here’s a little tidbit of what I said: I said that I barely graduated high school and i didn’t want to go to community college but was forced to and tried to quit but now i’m getting all a’s and b’s and am even a tutor. but i mean i also included more. they really do read your application so make sure to include as much as you can for them to get to know you!
Thanks @golddawgs. Really helpful information. I’m going to make sure I’m fully prepared for winter quarter.
For those of you that have been accepted, how/when did you receive your student ID? I’m expecting mine to come a little later since my decision came much earlier. My portal has not still updated haha.
@golddawgs I got my student ID by email shortly after accepting my offer of admissions. I got it the same day as when I accepted the offer.
@Psoriasis hmm… then im thinking i’ll receive it in a few days since i was accepted under different circumstances.
Anybody else just now apply to UW Tacoma as a backup?
Anyone know when the next wave will be?
@festivalgirl I don’t know if UW is releasing them by waves. Judging by this thread, it seems random. Since every applicant may not be on this thread, we can’t be sure.
I am really tired of waiting. Let’s hope we all get the decision by June or at least mid-June
