Hi, I am currently a Senior in High School. I am not sure that I will get into UW Seattle because of how competitive it is. I have a scholarship that will cover most of my tuition, and for this I am very fortunate. There are a lot of areas of study that I am interested in: Medical(Mostly Public Health), Engineering-Computer/Electrical, or Business(Maybe Econ).

What would you guys recommend that I do? I am not quite sure of what Cascadia does offer, but it does leave me a greater opportunity to transfer to UW Seattle than if I want to transfer from UW Bothell. From these interests I listed, which way is better to go? I want to stay home and provide for my family because we are not doing so well financially, and moving out/away is something that I do not want to do.

Go with what will give you more flexibility - Cascadia. You can always transfer to UW Bothell from it - it’s not a problem. However, your chances of being accepted into UW Seattle from Cascadia are much higher. And the tuition is lower at Cascadia, of course.

It’s harder than from a community college. Consider that 90% of transfer spots at UW Seattle are for community-college transfers and just 10% for those from 4-years. And no special treatment to those transferring from other UW campuses.

If your end goal is to go to UW Seattle, then you’ll have a much easier and less stressful experience transferring from a community college for the exact same reasons seatac mentioned.
