I got rejected from UW Seattle and now I'm in a dilemma.

I'm not sure what I'm exactly going to be studying in college, although I do like math and statistics, so I applied to EE in Bothell and statistics in Pitt.

I think Bothell would be a great school in like 8-10 years, but the limited choices in Bothell turn me off.

I'm considering CC and then transferring to UW Seattle, but I realized that all my hard work like AP and SAT test prep, pulling all nighters, etc. are worthless. CC would be cheaper as well but doesn't offer the "college experience."

I heard Pitt is a great research school and has many opportunities and choices for undergraduates. Pitt also has the "college experience" in a big city environment. However, Pitt is pretty expensive for me. My family isn't dirt poor but isn't filthy rich either. I received unsubsidized loans as "financial aid" and a 4k grant. Pitt would probably be about 8k more than Bothell per year.

Is Pitt worth the cost? Does the school an undergraduate goes to matter to graduate schools? Or is CC and UW Seattle the way to go?

My friend is in a similar situation as you. He got rejected from UW Seattle and is deciding on whether to attend CC or UW Bothell and then transfer. He talked to reps from both UW Seattle and Bothell about which method would be much “easier” to transfer from and they both said that attending CC will give you a higher chance of getting accepted as a TS. I think this is because UWB is already a branch off the main campus so they prefer students who aren’t already part of their system.

You can do what i did and attend a CC for a year and then transfer to UW Seattle. All you need is at least 45 college credits and of course good grades. But this way you only lose out on one year of the “college experience” and save money.

Another possibility – go to UW Bothell and get the great instruction, but live in the greek system at UW Seattle.

There are buses between the two and the fraternities have several members that attend Bothell and live in Seattle. Go to football games, etc. BUT stay on the Bothell campus of 8 – 10 hours a day and study.

Get the “college life experience” and the benefit of a private liberal arts education at state college prices.

You will need to apply for a major in your sophomore year if you want to transfer to UW Seattle. It is hard to get into all the majors there.
